WOW Update  - December 17, 2007

The World of Wonders Science Museum has made great strides in 2007.  We are so grateful to all of you who have donated money and time to the vision of the WOW.

The reality of the WOW Museum is near!  We are excited to announce the WOW Ground Breaking Ceremony will be Thursday, January 24th, 10AM at the Museum, 2 North Sacramento Street in Lodi. Bring your shovels!  We are eager to fulfill our mission to provide a safe family-oriented attraction where scientific learning will complement school children’s education and stimulate the child in all of us.

The WOW is pleased to announce that Chris Madill, Project Manager for Chatfield Construction, Inc., will be donating his time as the Museum’s Project Manager.  With his assistance and all of the construction companies who will be involved with the building improvements, we are projecting a summer 2008 opening!

This year the Board of Directors unanimously voted to partner with the San Francisco Exploratorium over the next three years.  This exciting collaboration will bring 30-35 hands-on exhibits (rotated out yearly) and educational program development to our community.  The Exploratorium staff will work directly with the school districts to coordinate WOW programs with classroom science curriculum.

As our construction and programming progress, so does our fundraising. One of our next major events will be the WOW Golf Tournament on Monday, April 14th at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club.  Please save the date and round up a foursome.  Once the cement is laid in the Museum, we will have a Hard Hat Party where donors can become name sponsors of exhibits and areas within the WOW. Your name or that of your company will be proudly displayed on donor plaques throughout the Museum.

The Board of Directors, Officers and many dedicated volunteers have worked long hours to help raise funds, and the local community has been very generous.  Yet, we still have a huge financial obligation before the doors are opened.  We have a dirt floor and a building to fill with exhibits.

With every brick, brush of paint, foot of pipe and wire the World of Wonders Science Museum gets closer to its dream of inspiring young people to reach for the stars. Capture this opportunity to touch the future. As always, your tax deductible donations are needed and warmly received.

Happy Holidays,

Sally Snyde, President
