The World of Wonders Science Museum recently received a $10,000 grant from the Brian M. Stocker Fund held at the Community Foundation of San Joaquin . “This grant will allow the WOW to purchase equipment and pay for staff time to create online content for our programs. Our goal is to keep these fun, interactive, and educational programs spread throughout the communities where they are needed the most during the coming months as children and families prepare for a summer like we’ve never experienced before” – Sally Snyde, CEO of the WOW Science Museum “On behalf of the advisory committee of the Brian M. Stocker Charitable Fund, we are delighted to partner with World of Wonders Science Museum as a 2020 stabilization grant recipient,” said Christopher J. Stocker, Founder & Advisor of the Brian Stocker Charitable Fund. “We acknowledge staff members and volunteers of World of Wonders Science Museum who through your tireless efforts and dedication in these trying times are central to your mission and resumption of educational programs, community service and outreach,” added Mr. Stocker. Due to the current pandemic, the Brian M. Stocker Fund focused its 2020 grants program on COVID-19 stabilization grants for county-based, nonprofit organizations for mission critical services, work-force aid, and operational needs affected by loss of funding due to the pandemic. The Fund has thus far awarded $75,000 in grants to local nonprofits in San Joaquin County in 2020. The Brian M. Stocker Fund was established at the Community Foundation of San Joaquin through a generous legacy gift from the Brian M. Stocker Estate. Brian M. Stocker died in 2010 at the age of 48, eight years after a life-altering automobile accident. Compelled to establish a legacy to fulfill his goals, Brian left the bulk of his significant estate for the express purpose of establishing a permanent charitable fund to support local organizations and initiatives serving children and youth in San Joaquin County. |
